The Silk Shirt = Statement Piece

Good Evening Ladies and Gentleman,

I hope you had a lovely weekend. This will be my third post about statement pieces. Another statement piece that we should all have is a silk shirt.

Why you should invest in a Silk Shirt

1. Silk shirt is a statement piece that can make your outfit look professional and casual for woman as a daytime and evening wear.

2. A silk shirt can be worn during any season.

3. A silk shirt can be worn with jeans, skirt, work trousers, work skirt and also worn with a leather jacket for a night out in town. (Silk shirt can be worn with flats, boots or heels)

Tips before investing in a Silk Shirt

If you wish to invest in a silk shirt here are a few of my tips:

1. Invest in different coloured silk shirts and silk shirts with different patterns that you can wear with jeans, skirt, work trousers, work skirt. Only purchase the silk shirt if it compliments against your skin tone.

2. If you are unable to afford a Burbery Silk Shirt that cost approximately $500- $900 AUD do not worry. You can always go to Zara, Forever New. H&M for one.

3. Always try on a silk shirt at the store because you will be able to feel and see the material of the silk shirt. By trying on the shirt you will be able to see how the shirt flows against your body when you wear it with jeans or how it looks when you tuck your shirt into your work trousers and work skirt.

5. Take the time to buy your silk shirt, do not buy a silk shirt just because I told you too. If you do not like the feel of the silk on your skin or you feel it is not your style do not buy it.

6. Always follow the washing instructions provided to ensure that the item does not shrink or tear (Silk material is very delicate, so please take careful care with it!)

7. Hang up your silk shirts when drying them and and store them in the shelf hanging up to ensure the silk shirt maintains its shape.  I would highly recommend to place moth balls in your cupboard so the moths don’t attack your clothes.

Here are a few of my silk shirt outfits that I wear to work to give it a professional, look.

1. Marcs Tangerine Silk Shirt OutfitIMG_8358

I bought the above Marcs Tangerine silk shirt because I love the bright colour and i find orange goes very well with my skin complexion. I even thought to myself i must have it as it was on discount!

  1. Marcs Tangerine Silk Shirt
  2. Cue pencil skirt

I bought this shirt because I love the patterns on it! It is very quirky and unique (quirky like me). Some people may not like it but I love it because its a fun outfit to wear. Not to mention confidence within always helps to pull off an outfit.

My Marcs Eyelash Lipstick White Shirt Outfit consists of:

  1. Marcs Eyelash Lipstick White Shirt Outfit
  2. Cue Black pencil skirt
  3. Tokito Black Cardigan

The Leather Jacket = Statement Piece

Good Evening Ladies and Gentleman,

I hope you are all having a lovely week. This will be my second post about statement pieces. Another statement piece that we should all have is a leather jacket.

Why you should invest in a Leather Jacket

1. Leather Jacket is a statement piece that can make your outfit look very edgy and casual for men and woman

2. Females you can wear flats, sneakers, boots or heels with a leather jacket. For the men you can wear dress shoes, sneakers and boots with the leather jacket

3. A leather jacket can be worn in winter and spring to keep you warm and makes your outfit very edgy and casual.

4. A leather jacket can be worn over a dress, blouse, shirt, t shirt and jeans.

Tips before investing in a leather jacket

If you wish to invest in a leather jacket here are a few of my tips:

1. Invest in a black and brown leather jacket as a key look.

2. Invest in coloured and textured leather jacket e.g. Red, Khaki, Red Wine, Dark Blue as a colour statement piece for your outfit. Only purchase the coloured leather jacket if it compliments against your skin tone.

3. If you are unable to afford a Balmain Leather Jacket that cost approximately $2,500- $3,000 AUD do not worry. You can always go to Zara, Forever New for one. To be honest no one will be able to tell the difference people will just see it as an edgy leather jacket.

4. Always try on a leather jacket at the store because you will be able to see if there is enough space in the arms area to be able to stretch and move in the jacket. By trying the jacket at the store you can see the shape and style of the leather jacket against your body and how it looks when you wear it with a t shirt or blouse with jeans.

5. Take the time to buy your leather jacket as it does take a while to find a leather jacket that you really love and can wear quite often.

6. Buy different styles of leather jacket meaning the way the jacket is zipped up or the different collar it has. By having various different styles of leather jackets it can help you with different outfits you wear.

7. Always hang up your leather jackets and store them in the shelf to ensure the leather is protected!

Here are two of my leather jackets that I wear for an edgy casual look. The leather jacket keeps makes me looks edgy with my short haircut.

1. Marcs Black Biker Jacket Outfit

The image below is a close up of the leather jacket. It is 100% leather and makes me feel like a biker chick every time I wear it.

I bought this biker jacket about two years ago and it has lasted me for a long time ( I even bought the same biker jacket in a tan brown colour). I tend to wear the jacket with flat, boots or sneakers depending on what venue I am going to.

  1. Marcs Black Biker Leather Jacket
  2. Cotton On Black and White stripe T shirt
  3. French Connection Black scarf
  4. Black Jeans
  5. Black ballet flats

I accessorised the outfit with silver hoop earrings and pink lip gloss. A hint of lippy on your lips makes your outfit stand out more. IMG_8373

2. Marcs Tan Brown Biker Leather Jacket Outfit

My below Tan Brown biker leather jacket outfit consists of:

  1. Marcs Tan Brown Biker Leather Jacket
  2. Esprit Black T Shirt
  3. Black Jeans
  4. Tan Brown boots
